Ben puts the Mac in Walmac, he is one of the founders of the business and his experience in the banking industry has been vital to ensuring that we deliver our clients the excellent service we have become known for.

He has spent 20 years working in finance and banking, starting with Commonwealth Bank in 2005 where he worked across all levels of personal banking from teller, home lender, branch manager and finally in senior management. He understands the industry and he understands the frustrations that most people have when dealing with their banks.

Ben has walked the walk when it comes to real estate, his own property journey has seen him complete several property developments from building his own first home to multi-unit developments. He has firsthand experience sourcing finance for and managing a Self-Managed Super Fund (SMSF) with both commercial and residential property.

As a business owner himself, Ben understands the complex nature of running a small business and how the right finance solutions can help take your business take the next step. He plays an active role is planning and presenting business financial statements in a way that banks and lending institutions will find favourable when assessing a loan application.

Away from Walmac Ben is married to Nic and has three children Lachie, Frankie and Isla he is also a volunteer board member. When he is not working or being dad’s taxi he is actively involved in local sporting clubs, hitting the golf course or spending time on Tasmania’s East Coast with his family. 

Ben has a Diploma of Finance and Mortgage Broking Management, is working on his Master of Business Administration and is member of the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia (MFAA).

Wally puts the Wal in Walmac, the other founder of the business whose skillset compliments Ben’s and has helped the business grow to where it is today.

He has 12 years’ experience in the finance industry where he has held executive mortgage positions with two of Australia’s largest banks. He knows the intricacies of the loan application process and can filter through the bank jargon to help his clients make clear and informed decisions on their future. He prides himself on simplifying the process and providing clear direction for his clients by directly managing the bank and their requirements.

Wally’s personal property experience has seen him buy and sell his first home with the support of a family guarantee, complete major renovations and utilise bridging finance when upsizing property. He also has personal experience utilising business cashflow lending and asset financing as effective strategies to allow businesses to grow.  

Outside of work, Wally is a loving husband and father who loves to spend time exploring our beautiful state or visiting his siblings who are scattered around Australia. He is a published author, involved with his local sporting clubs and loves to spend time around the ocean.

Wally has a combined Bachelor of Business and Science degree at University of Tasmania, a Diploma of Finance and Mortgage Broking Management and is member of the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia (MFAA).

Aaron is the most recent acquisition to our team, joining us after spending 20+ years working with both NAB and Bendigo Bank. His experience includes holding positions as a branch manager and a home lender which is where he found what he loved most, helping customers achieve their home ownership dreams and achieving their financial goals. He has a strong understanding of the mortgage process and property markets and is well equipped to support a range of clients from first time buyer to professional investors.

He is a born and bred Tasmanian and lives locally here in Hobart. When he’s not in the office kicking goals for our clients, he’s busy being a loving father and husband. He loves his sport, and is a proud and passionate Collingwood supporter, so feel free to stir him up if you visit him after a loss (I know we do).

Aaron has a Diploma of Finance and Mortgage Broking Management and is member of the Mortgage and Finance Association of Australia (MFAA).

Laura had been in the banking industry for 20 years working in a wide variety of positions including time spent in the local branches helping customers with their financial goals and also working behind the scenes supporting customers. Laura joined the Walmac team back in January 2023 to manage our loan processing for the business, she spends her day compiling our clients loan applications for lodgement with the bank and manages the correspondence to achieve a formal approval. Laura loves being able to share the news that your loan has been approved!!

Away from work, Laura spends her time playing mum’s taxi to her two sports loving boys, going to the gym, supporting local footy and in her real down time enjoys binge watching the latest show with a glass of Tasmanian wine.

Laura is currently completing her CertificateIV in Finance and Mortgage Broking.

Paige is our admin guru. She has been with Walmac Finance since the beginning and has since completed her Certificate III in Business Administration. In her time as part of the team, Paige has developed considerable experience in the collection and management of our client's information, loan documentation requirements and the loan settlement processes. You will hear from Paige a lot not only during your loan application time but also after settlement as part of our regular loan reviews.

Outside of work, Paige enjoys spending time with friends and family and she has a pet cat that she adores almost as much as she loves the Sydney Swans, who are her biggest passion.
